High Five! The highly anticipated Second Stage revival of Jason Robert Brown’s musical The Last Five Years has been extended by one week. Originaly scheduled to perform through April 21, the production will now play through April 28, starring Adam Kantor and Betsy Wolfe. Directed by Brown, The Last Five Years will begin performances March 7 and open officially on April 2 at off-Broadway’s Tony Kiser Theatre.
The Last Five Years follows Jamie (Kantor) and Cathy (Wolfe), two 20-something New Yorkers who fall head over heels in love—and out of it again—over the course of five years. In a city where professional and personal passions collide, charting the waters of love and matrimony can sometimes prove to be too much.
The Last Five Years originally premiered at the Northlight Theatre in Illinois, before transferring to off-Broadway’s Minetta Lane Theatre in 2002. Directed by Daisy Prince, the original production starred Sherie Rene Scott and Norbert Leo Butz. The musical includes the songs “A Summer in Ohio,” “Shiksa Goddess,” “Still Hurting,” “Goodbye Until Tomorrow” and more.
The Last Five Years features scenic design by Derek McLane, costume design by Emily Rebholz, lighting design by Jeff Croiter and sound design by John Weston. Thomas Murray will serve as musical director.
